The Founder Story and Social Responsibility Values Behind Hewbonn Paper
Behind every company, there is a story that shapes its values.
For Hewbonn Paper, social responsibility is not a slogan. It is not something added after the company became stronger. It is a belief that has grown from real life experience, from hardship, gratitude, and a deep understanding of how much a helping hand can mean to an ordinary family.
This belief started many years ago, in a small rural village.

A Value Born from an Ordinary Rural Family
In the late 1970s and early 1980s, the founder of Hewbonn Paper grew up in an ordinary farming family. Life in the countryside was difficult at that time. Stable jobs were rare, income was limited, and many families were working hard simply to secure food, education, and basic living needs.
In 1982, his father was a rural schoolteacher. His monthly salary was only 10.6 yuan, but he had to support a family of seven. On average, each family member had less than 2 yuan per month for daily living expenses.
For people today, this number may be difficult to imagine. But for many rural families at that time, it was the reality of life.
During that period, a local paper mill expanded its production and began to recruit workers from nearby villages. The factory not only provided formal jobs, but also allowed villagers to do simple sorting work at home.
A factory worker could earn around 20 yuan per month. Even villagers doing sorting work from home could earn about 3.5 yuan.
These amounts may seem small today, but for rural families at that time, they meant something much greater.
- Children could continue going to school.
- Elderly family members could afford medicine.
- Families could gain more security, dignity, and hope for the future.
A job changed a family. A company brought warmth to a village.
As a child, the founder witnessed how a company could change the lives of ordinary people. He saw that wages were not just numbers. They were school fees, medicine, meals, and hope. They were the reason some families could keep moving forward.
From that time on, he understood something important: a company should not only create wealth. It should also create opportunities. A company should not only pursue growth. It should also bring value to people. A company should not only change the destiny of its owner. It should also have the power to improve the lives of others.
This understanding became one of the deepest roots of Hewbonn Paper’s corporate values.
A Donation Made During the Hardest Time
In 2008, the company had just gone through bankruptcy restructuring. Development was extremely difficult. Heavy debts, financial pressure, and daily operational challenges placed a huge burden on both the company and its founder.
At that time, every amount of money was important. Every payment had to be carefully planned. The company was still fighting for survival.
Then the Wenchuan earthquake happened.
When the founder saw the suffering of people in the disaster area, he did not hesitate. He donated all the 5,000 yuan left in his personal bank card to support the affected people.

(In 2008, the founder personally visited the earthquake-stricken area to make a donation.)
For a business owner who was already under heavy financial pressure, 5,000 yuan was not a small amount. It could have been used for company operations. It could have helped with cash flow. It could have supported immediate business needs.
But at that moment, he believed there were people who needed it even more.
After making the donation, he did not tell others. He did not use it for publicity. He simply returned to work and continued dealing with the company’s difficulties.
Later, when it was time to pay salaries, he found that there was not enough money left in his bank card. At first, he even thought there might have been a problem with the account and nearly reported it. Only after checking the bank records did he remember that he had donated all the money to the disaster area.
It is not difficult to help others when one is wealthy. What is truly difficult is choosing to help others when one is also facing hardship.
That choice does not come from wealth. It comes from kindness, responsibility, and a value system deeply rooted in the heart.
Social Responsibility Written into Hewbonn Paper’s Spirit
This is why public welfare and social responsibility are not external labels for Hewbonn Paper. They are part of who we are.
They are written into the company’s spirit. They are rooted in the founder’s experience. They are carried forward through the way Hewbonn Paper treats employees, customers, partners, and society.
For Hewbonn Paper, a company’s value is not measured only by production capacity, sales volume, export markets, or annual revenue. These are important, but they are not the whole story.
A truly meaningful company should also be able to create stable jobs, support families, honor commitments, serve customers responsibly, and give back to society when help is needed.
As a tissue paper manufacturer, Hewbonn Paper understands that paper products may look ordinary, but they are closely connected with people’s daily lives, hygiene, comfort, and dignity.
That is why we take every product seriously.
Every roll of toilet paper, every box of facial tissue, every hand towel, every napkin, and every customized package carries our responsibility to customers and end users.

(In 2010, Hewbonn provided free training on paper product manufacturing to unemployed youth, offering direct employment upon successful completion of the assessment.)

(In 2014, Hewbonn participated in establishing a scholarship fund to provide educational resources for children in orphanages.)
Responsibility to Customers, Employees, and Society
To customers, responsibility means stable quality, reliable delivery, honest communication, and long-term cooperation.
To employees, responsibility means respect, opportunity, teamwork, and a workplace where people can grow together with the company.
To society, responsibility means remembering where we came from, caring about people in need, and keeping kindness as part of our business culture.
Hewbonn Paper believes that charity is not something a company should only do after becoming large and successful.
Charity can begin with a sincere heart.
- It can be a donation during a disaster.
- It can be a stable job that supports a family.
- It can be a company that gives people confidence in difficult times.
- It can be a small act of kindness when others need support.
Because We Have Been Through the Rain
Because we have experienced hardship, we understand the value of help.
Because we have received kindness, we want to pass kindness forward.
Because we have been through the rain, we want to hold an umbrella for others.
This sentence is not only the founder’s personal belief. It has also become part of Hewbonn Paper’s corporate spirit.
Today, as Hewbonn Paper continues to grow as a professional tissue paper manufacturer and exporter, we remain committed to our core values: customer first, integrity, teamwork, responsibility, and dedication.
We will continue to improve our products, serve global customers, support our employees, and contribute to society in ways that are practical, sincere, and meaningful.
A company should never forget where it came from.
For Hewbonn Paper, growth is not only about reaching more markets. It is also about carrying responsibility, warmth, and kindness further.
This is the value that has been built into Hewbonn Paper from the very beginning.
And it is the value we will continue to uphold in the future.
